PERMIT APPLICATIONS FOR 2010 DALL RAM, MOOSE & BROWN/GRIZZLY BEARS MUST BE COMPLETED BY DEC. 31 2009

Grizzly, Moose, Dall Rams & Caribou are the focus of most hunters' attention in the Arctic Game Management Unit 23, with Black Bear, Wolf & Wolverine sometimes taken incidentally or by special arrangement. On Kodiak Island we offer hunts for Brown Bear, Sitka Blacktail Deer, Fox & Ducks. Open seasons are subject to change, but the listed dates are now & usually valid.

Our hunters' success rate since 1974 has been: GRIZZLY 73/91=80%; DALL RAM 82/91=90%; CARIBOU 201/214=94%; MOOSE 104/109=95%; SITKA DEER 114/116=98%. We run a small camp - 3 to 5 hunters/booking preferred. Multiple specie 10 - 12 day hunts provide the best trophy quality potential. Longer bookings can be arranged, if done early.

SMALL GAME found in the Arctic include Arctic hare, Varying Hare (Snowshoe), Ptarmigan & Spruce Grouse. Red Fox, Arctic Fox & Lynx are here. Small game is often taken on big game hunts - no extra charges - bring a shotgun & shells. Kodiak has many Red Fox in all 3 color phases, some ptarmigan & many ducks - Harlequin, Old Squaw, Common & Barrows Goldeneye, Mallard, etc.

We have a license & tag vendorship for your convenience, in case you wish to pursue that extra caribou, Sitka Blacktail, etc. Unless you specify otherwise, we will have all your licenses, tags & permits ready before you arrive.

We support organizations that defend our freedoms & way of life. Jake is a Life Member of NRA, Alaska Outdoor Council, North American Hunting Club & Safari Club International. Jake is Master Measurer #74 for Safari Club International & can score your trophies prior to your departure. We encourage all hunters to enter their trophies in the book & the Alaska annual APHA/SCI competition.

The Non-Resident Hunter Preservation Fund helps Alaska Professional Hunters’ Association in it’s efforts to retain sport hunting privileges for all hunters, this includes lobbyists in Washington D.C. & Juneau.
Intensifying efforts by anti-hunters & others to restrict &, eventually stop hunting, first by non-Alaskans &, if possible, by everyone, demand that we be proactive in defense of our freedoms & way of life. It is requested that each hunter contribute $150 to this fund. Those who do contribute will receive:
A Two year sustaining membership in The Alaska Professional Hunters Association & Subscription to The Alaska Professional Hunter Magazine & Bare Facts Newsletter
APHA Patch, Lapel Pin and Decal
I urge all guest hunters & friends of hunting to make this voluntary $150 contribution.

For the best view of what we offer, we have available for $20 each, DVDs running 20-25 minutes each from the 2004, 05, 06, 07 & 08 seasons.

In the "off season" we are available to film & produce videos for individuals & companies. I have experience in such in Africa, Central America, South America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia & several of the United States. We have arranged for, participated in & outfitted for commercial TV & Movie filming as well. We have been guiding in Alaska since 1967. I speak Spanish as well as American. My German is sufficient.

More than just a hunt, we offer a true wilderness experience. Come & join us for a grand time in Alaska's great outdoors!
